Endorphina is one of the first well-known slot studios to venture into the field of AI-assisted image generation for online slots. Joker Ra launched on April 27th, 2023. The company claims to launch the first online video slot where every design element was created with the help of artificial intelligence.
The gaming press doesn’t go into detail about what that means and how much persuasion, training, suggestions or some other “training” was invested in the draft to be created harmonious effects between the overall iconography and to sum up the subject – it was probably intense and extensive.
How was Ra chosen as the mascot?
According to ancient Egyptian mythology, Ra was the father of creation and the king of all other deities. Its symbology belies its protective covering of sun, sky, royalty, power and light.
Endorphina has managed all of this with a deft hand, but there is – and perhaps intentionally – one haunting dye in the game, a spooky image like many of the early AI images presented. That’s not to say the artwork is any less than excellent, it’s just a little spooky when you mix a wild card with the king of creation – there’s bound to be something in the end. per se disturbing. The Joker can symbolize all the beginnings and endings of a life journey, so they also intertwine in a somewhat perverse way.
As with many of the works Endorphina lacks a full paytable with rules. There are two scatter symbols and you have to use your imagination or just throw yourself into the game and wait a while to find out who is doing what and why. None of this is explained in the instructions or the fixed paytable, but we do learn that one of the scatters only appears on certain reels. We also learn that wild symbols appear on the middle three reels and expand vertically to complete all winning combinations.
The scatter symbol “Pyramid of the Sun” that appears on all reels is simply rendered but well executedand the scatter symbol Pharaoh’s Chest (reels 1, 3 and 5) is a box adorned with scarab wings that begs for bigger size, allowing you to examine the details more closely.
Wild expansion on three middle reels
The Expanding Ra Wild symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 There are plenty of ways to roll out vertically on these 5-reel, 4-position slots 100 fixed paylines – So expect quite a few eerie giggles to the sound effects of the standard symbols connecting their paylines.
Just as NetGaming chose to keep the underlying math and mechanics of the slots game simple when it launched its first AI-powered picture game, Wild Buffalo Bonanza, on April 13th, so too has endorphina with the launch done by Joker Ra.
From a purely visual point of view, you’d almost have to be more of a fan of Egyptian slots than the big American bison games to choose this title over the other – unless a rather regimented and segmented art style be more to your liking. Buffalo is the epitome of NetGaming and almost unmistakably a hybrid creation that showcases an almost atmospheric collaboration between man and machine. Joker Ra has uniquely defined elements that fit well into a visual narrative while still remaining slightly different, if not unconnected. Alien Fruits by BGaming It’s, well, as the name suggests, just a little silly, but in no way that would reveal anything about its creative origins to a casual observer.
